Founder, Public & Voluntary Sector Collaborations Lead
Sophie MAskell
Sophie is Equality Collabs’ founder, as well as being our Public & Voluntary Sector Collaborations Lead.
Sophie cut her teeth in the voluntary sector leading the ‘misogyny hate crime’ campaign from Nottingham Women’s Centre, growing it from a local policing pilot to securing a Law Commission Review into national roll-out. This was only made possible through radical collaboration with civil society institutions, politicians, researchers and most importantly, women with lived experience passionate about change.
Since then, Sophie has worked in Central Government, developing health, education, family and immigration policy for the Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales, before working across Local Government, co-creating and delivering change initiatives in health, social care, transport and SEND services.
Frustrated by the lack of authentic collaboration between policymakers, public services, businesses and communities (and often, the subsequent lack of results), Sophie founded Equality Collabs in 2024 for an innovative and more meaningful way to create the change that matters to people.
